Idea pitch: 3 types of actions: Free- as many as you want on your turn, not sure what they'd be. Prep- something like moving or drawing a weapon, or reloading a bow Standard- something like making an attack or casting a spell.
Combat: once initiative is rolled, there is a prep round where everyone gets to take a prep action on their turn and any free actions, then a standard round where everyone gets a standard action and any free actions on their turn.
Some abilities would grant bonuses to standard actions by sacrificing a prep action, such as not moving during your prep turn so you can make 2 attacks on your standard turn.
Meant to create a feeling of more stuff happening at once, like a real battle.
